Terms and conditions

Welcome to SkyChat.in, an online communication platform powered by InspIRCd (Internet Relay Chat Daemon) technology. By accessing or using SkyChat.in, connecting through any IRC client, or using any of our web-based chat interfaces, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully, as they govern your access, behavior, and rights while using our network.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By connecting to SkyChat.in, whether through an IRC client (such as mIRC, HexChat, irssi, KiwiIRC, or any compatible interface) or our web gateway, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and Conditions.

If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not connect to the SkyChat.in network or use its related services. Continued use constitutes your full acceptance of these conditions.

2. Description of Service

SkyChat.in is an IRC-based communication service built on InspIRCd, allowing users to connect in real-time to various chat rooms (channels), exchange messages, and interact via standard IRC commands.

Our platform provides:

  • Access to public and private chat channels using commands like /join, /part, /msg, and /nick.
  • Secure nickname registration and authentication services.
  • Moderation tools via services such as ChanServ and NickServ.
  • Support for SSL/TLS-encrypted connections for improved privacy.

SkyChat.in operates as a community-driven environment. While we facilitate the technical platform, all user-generated content remains the responsibility of the user who creates or shares it.

3. Eligibility and Account Usage

To use SkyChat.in, you must be at least 13 years old. By connecting, you affirm that you meet this minimum age requirement and that you are legally capable of entering into this agreement under applicable law.

Users may choose to register nicknames through NickServ using the /msg NickServ REGISTER command. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your registered nickname’s password and for all activity that occurs under your identity.

SkyChat.in staff reserve the right to reclaim or remove nicknames that are inactive, offensive, or impersonate others.

4. Acceptable Use Policy

To maintain a safe, friendly, and respectful chat environment, all users must adhere to the following rules of conduct:

  1. Respect others. Do not harass, abuse, threaten, or discriminate against other users.
  2. No spam or flooding. Excessive messages, advertisements, or repetitive text using /msg, /notice, or /me are strictly prohibited.
  3. No illegal activity. Do not use SkyChat.in for activities that violate local, national, or international law, including distribution of copyrighted content, phishing, or fraud.
  4. Nicknames and channels. Do not use nicknames, channel names, or topics that are vulgar, hateful, or designed to impersonate other users.
  5. Command use. Avoid misuse of IRC commands such as /kick, /kill, or /mode to disrupt others.
  6. Bots and scripts. Automated bots or scripts must not interfere with normal chat operations or overload the network. Approval from network administration is required before operating a public bot.

Failure to comply with these rules may result in immediate disconnection, suspension, or permanent network bans.

5. Channel Ownership and Moderation

Channels (chat rooms) on SkyChat.in can be created freely using the /join #channelname command. The user who first creates a channel may be granted operator privileges (@ symbol) and can manage it using standard commands such as /mode, /topic, /kick, and /ban.

Moderators are expected to act fairly and responsibly. Misuse of privileges, such as banning users unfairly, excessive use of /kick, or engaging in personal disputes, may lead to administrative review or revocation of operator status.

SkyChat.in staff reserve the right to intervene in any channel for reasons including but not limited to user safety, technical integrity, or violation of network policies.

6. Technical Responsibilities

When connecting via an IRC client, users should ensure proper configuration:

  • Use secure connections (SSL/TLS) whenever possible: irc.indianirc.com +6697.
  • Respect connection limits; excessive simultaneous connections from a single IP may be restricted.
  • Avoid triggering automated network protections by using appropriate /nick and /user values.
  • Do not attempt to exploit InspIRCd or network services through unauthorized commands, raw protocol injections, or flooding attacks.

Examples of prohibited misuse include automated /connect loops, /ping flooding, /notice spam, or repeated /join/part cycling.
